Ever since a child, Halloween was always a big deal. Having an artist for a dad, my two sister's and I were often costumed in quite extravagant ways. We used to go to a big party held in the local movie house (there was only one!) and regularly won the costume contest. This has certainly carried into adulthood with a couple favorites including a rather flirtatious Bird and a much messier one of Edward Scissorhands.
This year, with Halloween on a Monday, much celebration will be taking place over the weekend, we will be attending a few parties ourselves, and, go figure, bringing a craft or two along. Of course, the main features are trick-or-treating and costumes. Still, here's a super fun, easy activity that can keep everyone--young to old--occupied until the big candy hunt where the spooks descend. Hand-crafted stamps with the Halloween theme of bats, ghost eyes or whatever you want.
Stamps were made from craft foam attached to balsa wood squares with the most perfect handle of a wine cork (who doesn't have a few of those handy!). Add cute paper and acrylic paint! Now, you are good to go for a fun party activity. You could even use these to make unique DIY Halloween party invites.
Happy Halloween my fellow spooks and let's try and keep it safe and classy out there!
